LP12 feet

Seeing how much the LP12 sparks interest...

How do you attire your LP12?

The standard hard rubber feet?

Squash balls?

Oak cones ?

RDC Cones ?

Other types ?

On a LP12 with the baseboard taken off

My LP12 (an ancient one) has the original feet, however quite a few Mana folks replace these with little 3M feet and seem happy with the results.

David -

The 3M feet work very well on glass shelving (eg Mana), but not so sure on MDF. Usually a good idea to take the baseboard off as it just transmits vibration and adds nothing to the deck.

But anyone with a Valhalla should remember to unplug the deck before removing the board, or prepare to have life flash before them.

Oddly, before these mods to my early '80s LP12 (Aro/Valhalla/Dyna17D2), the RingMat had been consigned to oblivion because it seemed to make no difference. Now it seems to make quite a lot of difference.

Is it blu-tac like?

I tried blu-tac on my just-bought-2nd-hand Linn that comes without feet and it sounded funny on MDF.

I'm now using ball-bearing and still evaluating.

Next to try is layers of platforms under my Linn.

Not all Mana folks use the 3M feet - try surfing the Mana forum.

I recently eliminated the feet in question from beneath my CDX, perferring the additional energy in the system, and more importantly, in the music.

I looked into the Mana Froum - brought back some memories!

Anyway, I couldn't find where you can get the 2M feet.

Has anyone got any ideas ?

The 3M feet are available from Farnell (www.farnell.com/uk).
The farnell p.no. is 148-922 (3M no. SJ5076) - you have to buy 56 min, nut they're not expensive, and useful for a multitude of things.

I'd send you some but have given all mine away, or used them on projects!

I have a trampolin and want to try the deck without, but I dont have the original feet. Can I just try the deck directly on the shelf?! or do I need some feet at least?. Can you just get the original feet from Linn dealer??

I have some spare feet I could use from an old NAC62 are these worth trying?

I think if you're an existing Mana customer (i.e. if Damian remembers you) and you ask nicely, they send you some 3M feet in the post.

Would someone kindly tell me what a base board is and what a trampoline is, there is so much to these decks.

The base board is a board that sits on the base of the LP12 smile

Stops fingers touching the nasty bits.

The trampolinn is a base board with rubber membrane feet designed for those that couldn't be arsed to site the deck properly (e.g. heavy sideboards).

For years one of these sapped music from my LP12 - I've got two if anyone wants one for free, I'm going to burn one and send the ashes to Linn one day wink

I've removed the hardwood one, the plastic one, and the trampolnn one.

Trampolinn = Tramps all over the music.

I suspect even Linn have reconsidered that one.

ps thanks for the info re the feet. I am a Mana customer (Phase IV + Speaker stands), so perhaps I shall try appealing to the Mana people. I knew Damian, but I understood he has left Mana.

Garyi

have you read the LP12 setup guides on Flat Earth Tony's website? If not, they'll be a fine place to start. No more mysterious than setting up SBL's - you'll be on top of it in no time!
