112/150 into Keilidh
Posted by: yaman on 05 November 2003
Hi all,
I am in the process of replacing my speakers but and have come across a pair of used Keilidh's. Will my 112/150 setup be enough to drive these?
It is very difficult for me to find suitable speakers for my Naim kit as many popular brands are not available here. So if you recommend these I'll have a look.
Thanks and cheers
Yaman

I can't see you having any problems driving the Keilidhs with them.

I had 112/150 into Keilidhs until a year ago, and it was fine. It is worth checking that the speakers come with the (granite I think) "stands" which were an optional extra with Keilidhs.

Hi Yaman,
I currently run a AV2 / 140 into a pair of Keilidhs. I love the combination. I previously was using a 72/flatcap into them and I think it's a great combination.
I would be hard pressed to change the Keilidhs today to be honest. I think it would be hard to select something else that would sound just as nice, but at a reasonable price level.
Roy.

Thanks for all the answers. I feel these will suit my kit and I feel I will hear the Naim sound for the first time with these in place of my Klipschs. Any thoughts?

Hi Yaman
I drive Linn Saras with a 112/150, and it works very well.
The Saras are a well known as a 'difficult' load.
You should have no problems. Although the 150 is the 'baby' of the range; it is still a very competent 50 wpc amplifier.

Keilidhs need carpets
I have Keildihs, driven by a NAP180. They are not the most sophisticated speakers, but I like 'em a lot. My experience is they are quite sentive to what kind of floor you have - perhaps because of the rather low position of the bass driver. They sound very well in a carpeted room. In a room with a bare wooden floor, especially a suspended one, the bass notes get kinda one-notey.
