Hi ,i currently have 2x 250 power amps bi-amping speakers. I wondered if it is pos to use the two amps passively to drive isobariks ie turn them into 2 mono amps(cost effectively of course)

Thanks for that Steve. The 250s i have are the early bolt together type, inside the left and right channels are clearly sep.Could the same end be got bysomehow unpowering one channel in each amp thus allowing the transfomer to work half as hard. What about the two 15000 caps, would only one be in operation in each amp.
regards
DP.

David,
Julian Vereker (designer of the amp) has reported in the past that the current drawn by a channel on 'idle' is almost negligible.
All you would need to do is disconnect one channel inside the two XLR leads (snip a different one in each lead, though, otherwise you'll get 2x mono).
If you do this, cut the same core at both ends (this is how modern 135 leads are configured).
cheers, Martin
