Big Chill festival

I am going to this at the weekend with the wife and 10 year old twins - I've not been before and chose it as I believe it is a good choice for the kids (plus Massive Attack are headlining) and have a campervan family camping ticket.

What can I expect, a more sedate Glastonbury?

Did you enjoy?

I went on Sunday as a guest and had a spendid time.

Highlight included suggesting to a chap in the guest area that his label should say "Lily's dad" and not "Lily Allen" which he chuckled at.

Yes, enjoyed it and from where we camped very suitable if you have kids. Nice vibe.

By all accounts not what it once was in terms of litter and pissed yoof but by comparison to, say, Reading was very genteel - lovely setting too.

The billing was the weak point but to grizzle about that is probably to miss the point.

Indeed the bill was as wide ranging as ever, but we found something to enjoy most of the day.

It was my daughter's first festival. She loved it though didn't seem to see many acts (her favourite was Plan B). But she did get plenty of dancing in, with no doubt an adequate sufficiency of alcohol and was pleased to have only thrown up once!

The preparation was interesting. She left Thursday morning and on the preceding Tuesday was asked by us where she was sleeping, what would she do if it rained etc.

Later that same day she and her friends had blagged a tent and some waterproofs :-) Oh the innocence of youth.
