regards, scotty.

ZOLA

Even so... I think this is a great sighning and exciting times for Westham.

Attacking football is what we want and Zola will produce the goods.

This is a breath of fresh air over previous Westham managers and i think Zola is someone the players will aspire too no doubt.

Come on you irons! Smile

well lets bloody hope so son - success is long overdue.

Seconded.

The fact that Zola is ex-Chelsea doesn't overly bother me. After all, Curbs is/was claret & blue through & through, but right or wrong, that didn't work out.
If he can instill passion in the players, help keep more of them fit for more of the time & play with more than 1 up front, hopefully he'll be given a friendly welcome.
The next transfer window might be interesting.
Matt.

can't be any worse than Curbs blatant ineptitude in the transfer market.

Zola has the inside view of the Italian u21'a and with Nani this should prove very fruitful for us.

Even if Zola uses us as a stepping stone to becoming the Chelsea manager - we only stand to win by his appointment.

i think its more of west ham using zola too in the fact that when he does decide to move on to maybe chelski then we can get bilic which should be around july 2010. Winker
works both ways!

...I reckon Zola could well be a great choice esp as he knows the Premiership so well ....and as for the Chelski connection .....this confuses me ...who exactly are WHU's most hated rivals? ..some derby's are easy to work out i.e. Sunderland V Newcastle ..Spurs v Arsenal ...Rangers v Celtic (!) but I'm not sure how you work out who to "hate" in London ...is it simply down to who's nearest or is it more scientific than that!
.....i.e. .. why do Crystal Palace and Brighton fans have such a rivalry?
Posted on: 11 September 2008 by manicatel
Jet,
Without getting too negative,
I always enjoy seeing Milwall lose, but then I had some very bad experiences with some of their fans at Mile End tube station when I was a lad.
Always nice to see manure lose, but thats not a London rivalry.
Other than that, I really don't dislike any London team any more/less than any other one.
Matt.

Are you sure you're not confusing them with Leeds?
Posted on: 11 September 2008 by Claret Badger
Leeds = Spurs of the north
Posted on: 12 September 2008 by scottyhammer
jet,
there are no set rules to who you hate as a hammer but our main hate figures are the totts and millwall. the totts because....well they deserve to be hated Winker as for millwall that goes back many years through the era of football violence and the fierce rivalry that era produced with rival gangs beating up on each other, as matt says he had a run in with them at mile end. in the 70s you were guaranteed trouble at most games. but to sum up if you support a london team then other london teams are not liked in general. most of us grow out of it though.
hope this sort of clears up some of your queries.
regards, scotty

oh, nearly forgot - its a fans given right to hate the mancs too! although i admire the style of football they play.

....As a northern lad (tha knaa's) I find the general anti Spurs thing amongst Londoners a tad surprising, (as ROTF says doesn't EVERYONE hate Leeds irrespective of regional origin?)

When I was a lad (and raptors roamed the earth) Spurs were probably regarded as London's "biggest" club ..they won the double and they had Jimmy Greaves in his prime (yes I know he played for the hammers later Scotty!) few fans would now dispute that Arsenal are the cockernee's biggest club and as I've mentioned Spurs v Arsenal is the obvious derby ...but other London clubs just basically dislike each other?

....yet in other areas of the country it seems more straight forward ....Burnley fans hate Blackburn ...Forest fans hate Derby (but not Notts County?) West Brom hate Wolves ....Liverpool hate Man U more than Everton ..but Man City fans hate Man U more than Liverpool and ....aaaaagh!
....it's a strange old game!

Not really, I just hate the Arse and the Chels. Everyone else is alright. Hammers are just dandy.

Awww can't we all just get along?
Posted on: 13 September 2008 by scottyhammer
JW,
I honestly think that in general we all do get along pretty well nowadays. the old days violent problems are long gone....you cant beat a bit of banter. Winker
Posted on: 13 September 2008 by Stephen Tate
It would make me happy to see the Chels decline big time.

Now THAT would be just dandy Big Grin

Hope Zola enjoys the double pie & mash with liquor, vinegar and mug of tea. Cool
