Surprising new top tip

Posted by: JWM on 29 September 2006

1) Get booked into a w/e conference (which you may or may not want to go on - immaterial to this tip).

2) Wife and kiddies use opportunity of your absence to go away to the Out-Laws for the w/e. [The Out-Laws bit is vital : plans cannot be altered - under any circumstances, just try depriving Granny of a w/e with the grandchildren...]

3) Go down with Pneumonia the day before the Conference, so you can't go on it, but SWMBO and sprogs still have to go to Granny's.

The decks are now cleared.

4) Take grills off speakers (no little pokey fingers) and equally make it an all-vinyl evening.

5) Wrap up warm with plenty of fluids in central listening position.

6) Turn-up not too loud (headache), but loud enough to mask the gurgling and wheezing in the lung department.

The only draw-back I have found is having to remember when the side is going to finish and bracing oneself - rushing, wheezing, still half-wrapped in duvet, to lift stylus is a new skill to me...

Anyway, this evening my pneumonia and I have been enjoying...

Dennis Brain, Mozart Horn Concertos
Led Zep II
Dire Straits, Dire Straits
Rory Gallagher, Calling Card
Muse, Origins of Symmetry
Hothouse Flowers, People
Renaissance, Scherazade
John Martyn, Solid Air

Thank you, Munch, for your kind wishes.

But I am now wondering, did I use the correct smiley? Or should I have used a Smile ?

My intention was to raise a smile more than anything else!

Having to get pneumonia in order to do this is a bit drastic IMO. I hope you are coping well enough James and recover very soon and continue to play music relevant to your condition:
Dire Straits, Calling Card, Hothouse Flowers & most apt - Solid Air!!

James

Hope you get well soon. I had pneumonia earlier in the year and it is not pleasant.

Still, it sounds like you have found a positive to take from it. Enjoy the music and don't end up in hospital with it!

Smile No, I nearly said, 'real, proper doctor diagnosed, not man-pneumonia.'
