Where is ROTF when you need a comment about his beloved Ipswich?

Come on ROTF what is happening to your team under our ex manager Mr keane?

So the question is who should replace Keane when he leaves next week ..... sensible answers only.
In the meantime here is a song by the wonderful Mary Chapin Carpenter especially for Roy (just think of Marcus Evans as the vocalist) - please click here.

My choice

Good to have ROTF back, even if because RK's Ipswich are so flippin' crap.
In the bit I was able to watch yesterday, there was so much talk (naturally) of Bobby Robson's days and 'Mr John' Cobbold. Now I don't for a moment think that one can just wind the clock back, but it seems to me that Evans and Keane are just so far off the mark of what makes Ipswich Town FC tick.
Let's be in no doubt, Ipswich Town FC has ALWAYS been a relatively small town's club, even in the 'glory days'. What made it tick was a family atmosphere (one for all, all for one, from bottom to top) with a commitment to footballing excellence. A bit like the old Ipswich hardware store Martin & Newby, where (just to be nostalgic for a moment), I once asked if they'd like my cheque guarantee card to support a cheque - oh no, sir, this isn't London.
Ipswich is not, nor ever has been, even in its greatest days, a 'London club' or its ilk.
I stress that I am not just being nostalgic, but there are some inherent characteristics at Ipswich that are required to get the best out. in a 'modern context' George Burley certainly had it (but the he was trained under the Gaffer), Joe Royle didn't. Keane, for all his credentials, just doesn't do it, nor Evans and his henchmen 'Chief Executive'.

Thanks James.quote:Good to have ROTF back
There was one piece of bright news yesterday Town 2 West Ham 1.
You are spot-on with your comments about Keane, Evans and Clegg - weren't they better off staying in Last of the Summer Wine?

Those were the days, my friend, we thought they'd never end.

Two of the all time greats - Ted and Ray (as opposed to Ted Ray) - if only we could see their like again.

Steve Coppell?
He's had a rest for a few months now. He had the Reading team playing good attractive attacking football and he knows how to get out of the Championship (at the right end) even if ultimately they weren't good enough for the Prem but that was down to lack of investment in Prem class players.

Rock bottom - surely he's got to go. Only one vote in favour of Keane on the Town 606 line and that by a supporter called A Canary
Steve Coppell(o) would be a good choice, but would he come. John Beck would be my realistic choice, but then it has been since George Burley was ousted by our stupid board - if only we still had a Cobbold
Avole - the Saints will turn it around - only one win away from going positive.

quote:I mean Keane paid money for Carlos Edwards (Sunderland are probably still laughing) and £1.75m for a stupid centre-forward who ..... well I'm speechless.
Surpirsed to hear about Edwards who played very well for Wolves on loan last season.
Posted on: 30 September 2009 by Guido Fawkes
Edwards was in a much better side at Wolves (a good team in my view, well managed - perhaps Mick McCarthy is somebody Keane should look up to and try to emulate). The current Ipswich side is very poor and it is all down to Keane, Evans and Clegg IMHO. Jim had built the foundation of a decent team, but Keane had to do it his way: result is 10 games 4 points and the foot of the table - he has got to go.

...Even the BBC man said the options are narrowing for Mr Keane.
And the man himself, I think, is beginning to see the writing on the wall... Post match interview. Keane deeply flustered

You wouldn't mess with him. He hasn't got the beard yet so I think he is relatively well

I'm as pleased as you are! Let's just hope this lasts.
I must have a word with my cellar man as I can't seem to find a cold bottle.

Best, Chris
