Lowest common denominator treatment on TV.

While we all seem to be bitching about TV I have a moan.
Documentaries on commercial channels, why do we have to have a bloody recount of what has already happened after every break? I am neither a moron or a teenager with the attention span of a goldfish. If people can't be bothered to watch from the beginning then tough shit.
Almost on a par with telling you what is about to start FFS.
I also don't want to what is "coming up" or a trails for next weeks episode.
98.. 99...100 that's better.

It's because all Docs' now must be suitable for flogging around the world Biggy.
Also there are plenty of morons out there,
& they can't remember what happened before the ads'.
Ad' breaks can be 15 minutes long on some channels.
Similarly BBC docs are now made so they can be versioned for commercial channels,
because they're co-productions.
If you've ever wondered why BBC docs' have been dumbed down now you know!

So much for TV being an educational tool. Thanks for that 555.

My disappointment with modern documentaries is just one of many reasons I no longer have a TV.
I'm expecting a visit from the TV licensing people anytime now.

Good to see this drives others mad too. Half the programme seems to be a preview of what is going to happen or what has just happened. Without this, the programme would be about ten minutes long.
My teenager son finds this maddening, and even a goldfish could remember.
I only watch three programmes a week - Have I Got News For You, Outnumbered and Desperate Housewives. On the latter you get an ad break after about two minutes, and the credits seem to run for half the programme.

Our regular fare is various CSIs, Criminal Minds and Heroes.
Oceans and Tony Robinson's Disaster Earth WW2 Behind Closed Doors docus are watched at the moment.
As we SKY+ everything and watch time shifted we can skip the most annoying stuff like trails and adverts.
This means we usually have an hour or two of TV and the rest is music time.

I'm very grateful to documentary presenters who explain things very clearly so even I can understand them. Recently one commentator started by saying
quote:
Villagers, that's people who live in villages, ...
thus fulfilling the remit to be educational and to teach me something.
Meanwhile good to see
One Man And His Dog back on our screens, albeit only a Xmas special.

You still watch TV?
Is there something wrong with you?
It's called 'books', they're close to free from the 'library' -
