Great Customer Service: Malaysia Airlines
Posted by: wellyspyder on 01 January 2010
On a recent flight with Malaysia Airlines, my elderly in-laws were completely surprised by a free upgrade to business travel at check in. This is fabulous public relations by an smart airline.
Anyone want to share their experience?

Nearly 50 views and no contribution. What does this say about the airline industry?

I have flown Malaysia quite a few times around Asia. We flew Malaysia last year from Sydney to London and agree the service was outstanding. We were in buisness and the way they looked after our kids was first rate to the point of magic tricks and all sorts going on. Food was great as well.

My guess is your elderly inlaws were selected by the check-in staff because the economy class was full & they had been given a discretionary approval to select people for upgrades
My regular trips around Europe in cattle class sometimes get upgraded, in most airlines this means that the section you are in is overbooked, the frequent (club) flyers get upgraded first, then its just a lottery.
I always fly BA Super Economy to USA and get upgraded 50% of the time
My last trip to India with my wife, booked in business using air miles was upgraded to 1st.
A previous trip to S.A. booked in 1st didn't get an upgrade, hmmmm wonder why.
