Old lights

Posted by: Eric Barry on 29 April 2001

I need info on replacing two lights, myself, in the US--
a)the red light from an old-style pre
b)the bulb from a bolt-together 250

Can anyone tell me where to get replacements, and part numbers if possible? Any tricks to doing the replacement. Thanks,

Eric

There is a thread somewhere here with tips on replacing the 250's bulb, I can't remember the title, try a search.

I have an old 250 and prefer the bulb to be dead - it's less distracting in the dark.

Hi Eric,

The red lights on the older pre-amps are LED's - light emitting diodes. These are not at all like the bulbs found elsewhere and while I can imagine that one might actually fail, I think it more likely that the power to the LED has failed. It might be wiring, the LED driver transistor or something else. You can probably diagnose it with a voltmeter.

I had mine switched to green LEDs during a recent recapping, but NANA has them.

Good luck.
