"cure music..."

Posted by: ken c on 24 January 2004

i caught the last bit of a news item on bbc today. they were talking about some scandinavian(i think?) doctors who are using music to reduce the amount of anaesthetic needed during operations. there is this guy who apparently composes the "appropriateĀ£ music, which has a speed that engineered to trigger memories of being in our mother's womb.

anywhere, i didnt really catch the rest of the news item, so dont have full/accurate details.

anyone has?

for the likes of me, i dont descriminate that much in terms of type of music, but it would be very interesting to know what type of music completely relaxes you after a hard day at the "office", which in my case, is another room in our house, wherein resides my naim system.

enjoy

ken

ps: i have also heard stories of "difficult" children being better behaved when mozart music is playing in the background. think what they could achieve with a better system such as naim --??

I'm sure that listening to Cliff Richard could make lesser pain tolerable.

Bugger, I thought this was another thread about Robert Smith's beat combo.

I can assure you from personal experience that country and western versions of Mull of Kintyre do nothing for pain relief!

It wasn't the dentist! It was another minor op a bit lower down the anatomy that only required local anaesthetic!

My musical tastes don't seem to include anything 'relaxing'.
