Do I go for the the recent Cisco, Universal Japan, new Back to Black versions or an original?

Michael Fremer is well regarded and so is the Cisco pressing. They will not be around for long as Cisco is out of business and the pressing was limited.

"…This new Cisco reissue is vastly superior to both the original pressing and to Mobile Fidelity's ½ speed mastered reissue…This is sublime ear candy and more importantly magnificent music making. No wonder it retains its attraction 30 years after first being issued. More proof that we're living in the second coming of analog." Music = 10/11; Sound = 10/11 – Michael Fremer, www.musicangle.com

I can verify that the Cisco pressing is very good. I have not heard the others so will refrain from guessing as to their quality.

I have seen some original pressings lately at the s/h shops. I was going to purchase another one to have 2 copies just because, but found some old Coltrane instead.

I can make the stops to the s/h shops next weekend to see if they are still there. I can pick them up for 5$-10$ and ship them if you would like(vg+ to NM-). That is if you can't find an original. Let me know, no money required, I will do it as a favor so you have the album.

Hi James,

I have a 180gm Cisco numbered copy, and it sounds fabulous. Much better than my standard original release.

Best wishes.

John.

Soon after I bought my TT I went to my dealer's local shop and low and behold 5 early Steely Dan albums. I bought them all. Aja is the only one I bought early on when it came out, my roommate was really picky about music, but he seemed to like that one.

I really don't need to hear the 180 is better.... do I?

No-one got the Universal Japan one then?

I got a few of those last year and they were all excellent...Aja is now same price as Cisco.

The Cisco vinyl is excellent, a really good mix, and quite a bit different to the original release.
In fact since buying it, I've been having a bit of a Dan Fest - currently re-discovering Everything Must Go, which really is up there with their best
