Just had an XX2 fitted and in home setup (to replace the XX1) courtesy of Derek at New Audio Frontiers. Well chuffed with it, I had almost written off Vinyl after the CDS2 head upgrade. The LP12 now has the edge over the CDS2.
Derek also brought the Supercap to dem with the prefix. I had been suffering slow bloated bass (new home has dry lined walls), especially with the XX1 which the XX2 has gone a most fo the way to resolving. The cold Supercap was a revelation though and definitely a worthwhile upgrade even though the prefix was cold. It totally removed the bass end nasties, opened up the sound immensely, reduced surface noise, all in all a worthwhile upgrade from the (warmed up) Hicap.
I will be accustomising myself to the XX2 for a few weeks before deming the XPS vs CDSPS to deciding whether to go Supercap Prefix or XPS first.
Thanks Derek.

sorry i didnt check your profile -- what arm? aro mandatory i believe...

"its hard to imagine why vinyl should sound so good" - If theres more to come after run-in, me too!
"what i find hard to imagine is that the tekaitora is even better" - Derek says the Te Kaitora is significantly better than the XX2 and the XV1 is simillarly better than the Te Kaitora. I find it hard to justify £1700 and £2500 on "disposable" items.
Interestingly though, Derek says a Supercap/Prefix/XX2 (£3800)is better than a Hicap/Prefix/XV1 (£3800)and the Supercap will always be worth half the original outlay.
