An early Olive range Mustang B or C?

I just hope the races weren't on at the same time we were there in '08. I think we were there a few weeks earlier.

Wrong again it's an A model. Born '42 crashed 44 recovered and restored '77.

Oops.

Pilot was ok, somehow.

Nice! Hopefully the engine hasn't been tuned to the edge of destruction - sadly quite a few are, or certainly "were". Pretty spectacular when they eventually let go but you wouldn't want to be at the controls when it happens.

Yikes! Just saw your second set of photos Tony. Lucky the pilot was OK, but... ouch!

Ouch, that must have hurt.

That should not be allowed even if he had "screwed" about with the design.

Probably the bits are worth more than the repair costs.

Thankfully it looks like a replica rather than the real thing.

It's a 2/3 scale carbon fibre replica.
I think the engine is a Packard Merlin, tuned to rev to about 3,600rpm instead of the usual 2,800 for a RR Merlin. About three million per engine.... £ or $? Does it matter?

Here you can see the pilot. And his boots!

I thought the proportions looked wrong, I should have realised.
Another senior moment.

I wonder what the pilot's saying?

"Oh bother. How unfortunate."

Or maybe not...

Guess he would be saying or thinking "Man, I should have polished them before the show."
