The Band - Last Waltz

Can anyone recommend the best version of The Band's Last Waltz? Is the 1988 version better than the recent remastered versions? I don't have chance to listen before purchase unfortunately. Thanks.

The most recent remastered version is best IMHO.

Better still, however, is the remastered version of the 1972 double-LP Rock of Ages - possibly the Band's finest hour and a fantastic concert.

I agree with Rupert on both counts.Excellent performances by the seminal American group.

Yeah I want the DVD of that concert. Joni almost stopped the action, but after that it ripped again, Dylan's best performance I've seen. He was on fire.

When it came out I was in LA for the day with an older friend, I just had to see it at the Cinerama Dome on Sunset Blvd. It was designed for those multiple camera color extravaganzas in the 60s like Ben Hur. Great film, tho I had to clue my friend in on who these people were..... lol.
