Igor Stravinsky - Works For Igor Stravinsky (22 CD)

An online retailer is offering this 22CD set of the complete works conducted by the composer at the bargain price of £14.95 (Free delivery). I hope the mods will allow this post. I have used a tinyurl link so that the identity of the online retailer is not immediately evident. I am not connected with the company in any way and I already have a copy of this box set and it is highly recommended. At the price offered it's a steal!

That's around 68p per disc!

Lots of people have read this post ... Is anyone going to order a copy?

Stravinsky's readings are very different.

I guess that if it was anyone else the critics would have a field day but you can't argue with the interpretation of the composer I guess

I picked it up a while ago when recommended here and am slowwwy working my way through it
( sorry that seems like it is hard work, it really is a pleasure, just not my gig).
At the price I think it's a steal. Sme gem cd's in the box.
Charlie.

I think that £14.98 is worth it just to get Stravinsky's reading of 'The Rite of Spring' and 'The Firebird Suite'. 'Ebony Concerto' features Benny Goodman and IMHO that is also a superb interpretation.

I forgot to mention that for the age of the recordings the sound is also pretty good. None of your digital recordings here!

I got this Christmas 2008 and, since then, have played every disc.
(1) Interpretations are always interesting, though not necessarily the best
(2) Sound quality was never state of the art at the time of original recording; now it is acceptable but disappointing.
Definitely worth getting by anyone with the slightest interest in Stravinsky.
