Toslink to cinch conversion box

Anyone have any experience of these?

I have an Apple TV with an optical digital out but my Loewe TV has a cinch for the digital signal.

I don't want to buy a DAC just yet but wanted to see how the audio signal from the Apple TV sounded via the digital out versus the standard analogue output.

These conversion units seem quite cheap, so not really a stretch to experiment although I will end up doubling the cable length between Apple TV and TV unless I get a custom cable made.

So, is this a dumb question or should I really be introducing a standalone DAC, in case I will wait until we know what Naim is up to?

Thanks,

Huw

So you're going to use the DAC in the Loewe TV to produce the sound from the Apple TV ?

Yes - to co-ordinate the audio and visual. At the moment I use the analogue out, but the left channel seems to have gone AWOL

Ah ok - i had one of the toslink to coax converters from Maplin. Did the job converting V+ signals to coax when i was using both inputs on the n-Vi - only about £15 too.

Thanks James - I found one that was €9 and another that was €80, I'll take a punt on the cheap one.
