Hi
I´ve got plans to buy a Naim Nait 5 next month! My actual cd player is a Nad c 540!It´s all rigth but I don´t know if match well with Naim sound!I don´t have enough money to buy a Naim cd 5,so I´m thinking Rega Planet! What can I do to improve the sound of amplifier Nait 5?i know that I´ve to change the cables, but I want a musical sistem,to spend some hours listening!Do you have any ideas?

The NAD should match with the Naim pretty well, taking into account the limitations of the player.

The Rega Planet remains a favourite. Its presentation suits that of the Naim equipment. However, you may also wish to consider the Arcam CD72T. The 'T' is a much improved version over the original 72, and it is running the Rega hard in direct comparisons. The 72T is positively good, and it benefits from being a little cheaper than the Rega. I would advise you to try it if possible.

Frank.

S/H CD3, Cd3.5 or even 5 would be your best bet.

Source first... roll eyes

IMO arcams sound boring whenever I've heard them.

I have a planet and while it is a fantastic player I can't urge you strongly enough to seek out a second hand CD3.5. I tried one in my system and it beat the planet hands down - made me want to dance, which is both a rare and scary prospect! As soon as I have the money that is the route I'm going.

I would recomend , however, a listen to the planet if for any reason you find your system a little bright as it will take the edge things (for a loss of bass and PR&T)

New planets are £500 Appx and 3.5's seem to be around the £600 mark (secondhand).

Good luck with it all and no doubt it'll sound the doggies whatever you get!

Cheers
Martin
