Isobarik cannon sockets?

Posted by: Flex on 18 September 2002

Hi all
Have any of you Brik users, had any experience of removing the old cannon type sockets, and replacing them with a pair of banana sockets?

Or

Any recommend a brand cannon plug or a technique for soldering them to Naim speaker cable?

Your experience (to a new Isobarik user)
would be much appreciated.

...look a real bitch to sold on to naim cable!

If I do go ahead with it, which terminal is postive and which is negative? 1, 2 or 3?

Flex (What is your proper name btw)

Buy yourself a pair of modern xlr's for about £4.00. They are colour coded and look pretty good.

They have 3 connections and if you put them side by side to your current connect, it is easy to determine which wire should go to which terminal.

I did it and therefore so can you.

Flex,

if you can prise your Isobariks away from the wall you should find a pinout for the sockets (including a 'do not connect anything to this pin' warning).

Thanks Mick and Martin
I didnt even think of looking on the back of the speakers as they are still in their shipping boxes, so that one hurdle over. I Have brought 3 different types of plugs from RS, and the best of them looks like Cat. No:279-7964 due to the large solder lugs and what feels like the tightest connection to the male connection.

Sad subject I know, but I'll soon get over it once the beast are up and running. May well do a listening report if I get time.
