Naim - Denmark

Posted by: keano on 05 January 2003

Is there somebody here who can tell
me where to get Naim in Denmark-Aarhus
as it seems my normal hi-fi dealer is not
dealing with naim at the moment.

Keano. I just checked on naim's web site and they only list f3/lyd in Köbenhavn.

Thanx
F3 is the danish distributors
and not a dealer.

So this is true.I will not
be able to buy Naim in Aarhus/Denmark
as my local hi-fi dealer will not be
selling it.

Yes i suppose so.But it is a long way to go
for listing to Naim. The problem with Naim in
Denmark is the distributer F3 who really dont
like Naim(I have heard them say that their own
speakers were much better than Naim's speakers)so there you see.Take a look at Sweden where Naim is regularly seen in the hi-fi magazines
and also there is a lot of advertising.None of this is seen in Denmark,so if you are not getting a new distributor who will love to sell Naim,im afraid Naim will disappear from Denmark.

I believe the chap in Vejle (SK Sound?) and KT Radio in Odense will supply from a printed list of Naim products. I had a list from KT Radio a couple of years back. I seem to remember the prices were rather/seriously "iffy" compared with UK retail. Of course it doesn't help if you want to listen first. SK Sound (in Vejle) had a CD3.5 on demo once. (Don't ask) But I haven't been back for a couple of years when they were open.
Interestingly (or not) HiFi Klubben was once a/the dealer for Naim in Denmark. But there was a "falling out" over customer service (I believe I read from an old copy of HiFi & Electroniks, now sadly deceased). They (HIFI Klubben) didn't do home installations and weren't able to offer one room, one speaker demos. At least that was "the spin" they put on it.
I you look for Naim in the Danish Google browser (include hifi in the search term or you'll get a lot of Asian Naims included)It seems København is the only option if Aarhus is out of the question. Shame about the crossing charges for the bridge!

Hi Per,
Check your Google DK browser. SK Sound is still alive & online.
Wish I'd been here during the HiFi Klubben Naim sales bonanza. Sounded(?) real fun! Smile

Sorry, I should have added that there are regular ads for (used) Naim kit in Den Blå Avis. I have 'mine' set up to catch any Naim gear advertised. Saw a '52 recently (amongst other things). I remember a chap in Langeland was selling Naim gear. (But you knew all this anyway).

I know some Naim'ers here, but none in Langeland, could this have been "Lolland" ? -this is were I live !

Could well have been Per. There was a range of Naim stuff for sale for a while. Not very recently though.I may have confused Lolland with Langeland. I used to look in the local library before I discovered Den Blå Avis was online. Memory like a sieve these days. Sorry.

Due to the fact that i can't buy Naim locally
anymore and the fact that the distributor don't
rate Naim very high and seems indifferent about the sales rate of Naim here in Denmark,so i have decided in future to buy Naim
from a dealer in England ,or if i can from Naim direct

The situation in Denmark seems to be similar to the situation in Ireland, where Naim is not being represented. While distance buying from a British dealer is possible (I bought a new NAT05 in this way and a pair of used 135's from Lasses in Sweden), there is no possibility of a home demo and trading up becomes very difficult. Even an In-Dealer demo requires a plane or boat trip and possibly an overnight stay. If something goes wrong, equipment has to be shipped back to the dealer or to Naim, with no loan equipment possible while a repair is taking place.
Please Naim, find a solution to this type of problem.

Spoke to the guy who owns Hifi-forum in Copenhagen , he told me he have sold the shop
and the new owner, will not be selling naim.
So there is now no shops to buy Naim from in
Denmark.Dear Naim what can i do ? Buy Linn ?

I'd say find a European dealer that ships and works by phone tho the take home trials may not be possible. But being American I have little knowledge of inter european trade legalities.

It's interesting that it's supposed to be a free open market within Europe. With no taxes between countries. Except that certain American firms set strict controls over sale of their gods (by the their dealers) to areas outside their immediate sales district. If the prices for these goods were similar to the USA. Then there would probably be no complaint. But UK prices (for example) are up to 3 times the US price. There are endless threads on this subject on the astro groups. I have no idea whether this applies to hifi too.
It's perhaps fortunate that the real music making stuff is manufactured in the UK. Even if you can't find it in Ireland or Denmark Big Grin

Keano and other Danish friends. I suppose you can always take the ferry over to Göteborg in Sweden. Anders at Tonläget is a nice chap.
