For those who enjoy lager beers (and please do enjoy), the fridge is fine, it's a bit more difficult for those who enjoy bottled real ales, which require to be coolish rather than cold... Just go down the pub...?

And be asssured, I'm cheering England on, not just because of national pride, but because my wife's got them in the sweepstake.

Enjoy, all,
James

Is there something on?

I'm sure if you had packed the fridge a little more efficiently you may have got another bottle in there.

Beer and football, eh? And women say men can't multi-task??!!!

Phil,

When they make beer bottles the same size as eggs, I will fill that shelf. Big Grin

Proper old fridge that! I inherited one just like it from my grandmother, when she moved to my aunt's, and then obliged by living another twenty years! It was a bloody good piece of kit, but too big for the space in the next house.

At home we had an old LEC fridge which was almost half as big again. In those days we used to have six pints of Gold Top Milk [good thread that was too from last week] a day delivered so on a Saturday there would be 12 pints all in the door. I cannot imagine any modern fridge not simply keeling over under the weight even if you could get them in.

Fredrik: Topical, but not quite in the anticipated way perhaps!

Fredrik,

This fridge was acquired as a result of house hunting (another of your current threads). We viewed a property for sale in Marlow, while we were still living in rented accommodation there.

We both hated the house, but I loved the fridge, and cheekily asked the estate agent if the owners (this was a probate sale) would be prepared to sell it. The estate agent asked them, and they said I was welcome to have it for free if I could take it away. It weights a ton, but is just like one of those Tom & Jerry fridges from the cartoons. I'm not sure how old it is, but it has seen a few world cups and is still keeping my drinks cool!

Sorry if this is a bit anal, but attached is a photo of the outside.

Regards

Dear Nic,

It is a classic. Keep it going!

It took my brother and me all our strength to heave ours up the back steps of a house we shared for a while between 1984 and 1989 when I first moved to this flat in Hereford. I then stayed here (with a much smaller fridgeand no brother) till 1993, when I moved to near Worcester. I returned here in May 2005, and yes I want to stay. I shall know more by the end of the weekend about whether buying really is possible.

Enjoy the footie! Fredrik

Six goals in the opening game. The goalies are complaining about the new ball but let's hope this will lessen the turgid stalemates often seen in the knockout stages.

A classic old fridge indeed, but have you had it serviced recently. You might find it performs a lot better if you do.

Also, it appears to be standing directly on the floor, have you thought about spiking it?

Mark,

I suspect this one is well beyond the service interval recommended, and the lack of spikes could well explain the occasional vibration and hum when the compressor kicks in. Big Grin

Having just had a very pleasant away match at one of my fellow world cup travellers house, after some very nice wine, it does look like we could be in for a very entertaining tournament.

Two games down and 8 goals scored!

Now I'm really looking forward to tomorrow.

Any news on Gerrard today?

Looks like he is fit to play tomorrow, according to the bbc website.

I've got a house full of people tomorrow to help empty the fridge. Maybe I ought to post a "naked" picture of the fridge when it has been de-nuded!
