TT for Aro ?
Posted by: jpk73 on 10 November 2003
Hi!
As you know I want to "sidegrade" my LP12. I don't want the LP12 any more, but I am wondering if I could keep my ARO and find a good TT for it. In any case I will demo the P9 (of course with the RB1000), but that's a totally different thing.
So what are the options for the Aro?

I highly recommend the DPS turntable for the Aro. In fact, its designer uses an Aro. I had this combo myself and would have kept it but for an opportunity to buy a Basis I couldn't pass up. I understand that the table recently received further revisions and it should now sound magnificent. Even better, it's relatively affordable and easy to setup and maintain.

Jun, these people do something with a Naim Aro and if I remember rightly one or two people in this forum have used such kit.

Jun, Try a Platine Verdier for an upgrade or a Roksan Xerxes if you want a different flavour

Dev,

Hi MArkus, yes and it is a fantastic record player - I'm not sure which one I heard though, the guy had an Aro on it and it was called a Nouvelle something or other, but it was fantastic!

Vindicated I feel, Yoda said.
If you ever have a burning desire to learn more about this 'table, I'll gladly proselytize.

Evan D. Jay: What cartridge did you use with the DPS/Aro? Can you tell me more about the DPS? Do you think my Koetsu Onyx will work with this combo?

I'd also be interested in hearing your take on the DPS... I remember you mentioning this a while ago (before I bought the LP12) and not being able to find one to hear anywhere.
Did you hear it with an Aro and other arms? Any chance to compare against LP12 or similiar?

there are two types, the platine verdier with
the magnet bearing, and the nouvelle verdier
with an oil bearing.
also the platine is a bit bigger in size.
soundwise there is a difference like in
good wines. they are both fabolous.
