Nick Clarke RIP

What a great shame.

Anyone who listened to his ultra-moving account of living with cancer and losing his leg to it earlier this year will have been rooting for him to have beaten this.

With his wonderful-to-listen-to voice, he managed to be simultaneously as questioning as Paxman and as incisive as Humphrys, whilst being polite and obviously a charming person.

I feel great sympathy for his young family.

I can add nothing to Rod's post. But to echo sadness at Nick's passing, and sympathy for his family, colleagues and friends.

Requiescat In Pace indeed.

Terribly sad news. Nick Clarke was one of the very finest journalists around. As Rod has said, a wonderful voice and a style that was far superiour to harranging of Paxman or Humphrys, no less tough, but it got the job done better. He will be sorely missed (the World at One has not been the same without him).
