It's true, the HDX crashes
Posted by: gone on 08 December 2009
Had my first HDX crash this evening. While playing Merz' Loveheart, it got into a loop and sounded like a scratched record, repeating every few seconds or so, and then finally rebooting.
I'm not complaining, as long as it doesn't make a habit of it, but it is fallible after all - it's been pretty rock solid up till now.
Or was it the choice of music?
Roll on the software upgrade.
Any suckers out there on the beta list?
Cheers
John

One possible cause is a power disturbance or partial power interruption, causing a 'brown-out'. PC's can suffer the same way, indeed anything controlled by a processor running software tends to dislike 'power dips'.
It's worth checking that all relevent power connections are secure and pushed fully home, especially the mains plug in the back of the HDX.
Remember it is still under warranty, so it's worth checking with your dealer (or Naim), particularly if it happens again.
Let's hope it was a 'one-off'.

It could have been a brownout - we've been having all sorts of power outages recently, with all this wevver. Although I didn't see any lights dim.
All running smoothly again now

Where was the music sourced from? NAS/SHARE or locally on the player?
What software version (currently should be 1.4B SP10 - see system status in system setup menu)?

The music was on the local disk - I've had a few hiccups from a NAS, but probably due to buffering and network traffic (understandable) - but this was a crash/reboot.
I'm using 1.4b SP10 which is the latest in the wild
No biggy - just one of those glitches
