The Man In Black Is dead...

... which is a terrible pity.

Not very profound I know, but I personally will miss him - he was one of those rare artists whose final decade was his perhaps his most creative.

Agreed, Kevin.

RIP JC.

When did this happen, I have not heard anything on the radio/tv. A real shame this has been a bad year for departures: Benny Carter being perhaps the most significant loss.

After Sam Phillips this summer, now Johnny Cash, will the Sun ever shine again? Frown

Quote from Paul AB

Cheer up !!!! We've still got Status Quo

Indeed. And Dire Straits might reform. And at least Sting's still making great records.

I saw Johnny perform about 6 years ago and it was oddly very cool. The Harley biker crowd really got into him.

You've most certainly never seen the Quo live, Kevin.

Just heard it. A great loss. May he rest in peace.

I really liked the recent single 'Hurt'. Showed he could still do it.

I loved his take on it, even better than Trent's. And the video chokes me up every time.

Well, yes, Sam Phillips, but what about June Carter Cash, who died just a month or so ago? I had a feeling that Johnny wouldn't be around much longer after she died. In the video of Hurt, she looks at Johnny with a combination of such deep love and pain, it's heart rending.

I'll miss them both.

I agree, it's a real shame to lose him. Anybody who covers Nine Inch Nails songs in their 70's (and does it better than the original) deserves much respect.
