LP12 45RPM adaptor

Posted by: Andrew L. Weekes on 22 September 2001

I've been rummaging through some of my old TT odds and sods and found my 45RPM adaptor, languishing now I have the Lingo.

They're fairly expensive, so the first person to reply to this thread gets it for free. Leave an email address, if not in your profile, so I can contact you and I'll pop it in the post once I have your address (UK only).

I'm happy to send further afield if postage costs are covered.

Andy.

If I eventually get a Lingo I'll pass the adaptor on to another forum member likewise.

If its true that I can play my 10 remaining 45s with a Lingo and without an adaptor then whoever wants mine can have it. I haven't even tried but did wonder why my deck on/off switch suddenly had 2 lights on it when the Lingo was fitted. I now presume that one of these is for 45rpm?

I also have a grey Snaic for anyone that wants it.

Just e-mail me if you want either.

Alex

ps Just saw Rockingdoc's post. This is not a desparate attempt to avoid his label. Honest.

Alex,

I could use the SNAIC (more 3M feet in exchange?)

If anyone decides to give away a Supercap, I'd like to put my name forward now.

Cheers

I also have 45rpm pulley adaptor going for free, first email gets it, I would suggest always using a different belt for 45's it gets stretched over the larger pulley.

Alex,

Press and hold the LP12 on/off switch until the light switches from red to green. You have to do this from the off position, I think. The LED will do the usual bright-then-dim trick once at terminal velocity.

If you stall the platter in 45RPM mode it will not restart.

I always use a different belt too - just keep your old one for 45's and buy a new one for 33's. This is a good idea if you haven't changed it for a while, particularly if using a Lingo. The higher start-up torque stresse the belt more, and it sounds better with a new stretchy belt than an old stiff one.

Andy.

P.S. If you visit Linn's site, youcan download the Lingo manual in Adobe Acrobat PDF format.
