Perceptions after my new spur....
Posted by: Consciousmess on 05 April 2009
Hi all,
It has been just over 24 hours now that I've had a separate spur fitted and I thought I'd update the forum on my perceptions. I must say that I DO notice more space around instruments, and it has to be said that the distinction between the sound and silence appears more noticeable.
I believe that is called the dynamic range. It isn't as major as I expected, but there is a smoother background. However, there are reasons why I suspect the electrician hasn't done a proper job - please bear with me.....
I will put a picture below of my 3 Powerlines plugged in and as you can see the electrician has connected 10mm spurs to each of their double sockets.
Unfortunately I'm struggling to do this, but I wanted to include a picture of the separate fuse box he has fitted as something perplexes me about it. As I cannot upload the picture - I will try again in the future - I have to mention that he has connected 3x10mm spur to this fuse box, but then this fuse box connects with 2x6mm spur to the already existing fuse box!!!
To me that is illogical! Surely if I am connecting via 10mm spurs to my Naim power sockets, I should have 10mm going straight to the meter????!!
Havent I now effectively got a 6mm spur and I'm not benefittimg from the 10mm???
Is it straightforward to change this 6mm spur (going into the existing fuse box) to a 10mm spur going straight to the meter??
I am aware of legal requirements and will follow them, but perhaps I'm not noticeing MAJOR effects as the job has only been half done??
Would you agree, and many thanks in advance for your responses!!
Jon
