Just watched the documentary on the history of the NME. God, I didn't realise how much that paper had been part of my youth. What a wealth of talent existed in its pages. Charles Shaar Murray, Nick Kent, Ian Macdonald, Paul Morley and, luv em or hate em, Tony Parsons and Julie Burchill.
Never knew they had their phones tapped in their Thatcher-baiting heyday. Well worth catching the late repeat, Friday BBC4.

It would have been easier to say who DIDN'T have their phones "bugged".

They missed out on some off the NMEs' great headlines though.(If you look at them in isoslation) 2 that stick :-
