cd5 covered in plaster dust!!

Help please? I had some building work done in my house - Plastering and pulling down ceilings - and returned from holiday to find my cd5 and amp and tuner covered in plaster dust. Apparantly dust sheets not part of this builders toolkit!I have managed to clean everything up on the units themselves but what do you think the chances are that dust will have got inside the casework and caused some damage? And what can I do about it?

Advice much appreciated...

The dust should not have entered the amp or tuner. Probably best to use a soft make-up type brush on the CD drawer.

I'd resist the urge to take a look inside the cases, as it has been ducumented here B4 by Naim staff; that the case bolts are torqued to specific settings.

Getting this wrong, can affect the sound.

The only way to be sure that everything is hunky-dory is to let Naim have the kit for a thorough check.

Builders dust stays in the air for weeks sometimes and gradually descends to create a thin film on exposed surfaces. Usually it doesn't penetrate though, so a careful vacuuming externally should solve the problem. Look at the CD drawer if its not dusty its unlikely any further internal damage has occured. The moral of the story 'never trust builders to put dustsheets up' - do it yourself before you let them in the door, specially if the work involves tearing down of ceilings Eek
