I am actually beginning to think that this band are a bit over rated. I have their last three albums but I don't think they have justified the plaudits. Some of the tracks on the latest album are embarassingly bad.

Hi,
I saw this band in 1991 in the mean fiddler in harlsdon just after yerself is Steam came out. It was apparently their fourth live gig ever. Man were they LOUD. I saw Nirvanna and My Bloody Valentine the same month and I thought Nirvanna ranked third as far as live performances went! Anyway, I feel that M Rev's CDs have gone downhill and they never recaptured the magic of very sleep rivers etc. I had tinginitis for a week after their gig, though!

I think there are strong moments on this new album, but over all I'm a bit disappointed. you can't beat the Flaming Lips really. Anyone who's not heard "The Soft Bulletin" won't be feeling short changed after a trip to the shops!

All I have to do is decide whether it's the CD or the LP, I'll probably buy the margaux anyway, or something 'akin. big grin

Normally I always go for the LP. After two returned copies I gave up and took it on CD. The vinyl is a terrible pressing, noisy, muddled, thin, distorted plus lots of fried egs. The CD is a long way from great but is cleaner and less variable. A really rewarding album spoilt by crap mastering onto vinyl. A shame as I really wanted it to soung great on the black stuff.

I bought All is Dream a few weeks ago and I've got to agree with Mick Dale that if you've not yet discovered The Flamming Lips then I'd urge you to do so. Nevertheless, I still enjoy the new Rev record.
