This event is truly the result of a great democracy here in the USA. The clock is ticking and I just can't wait for it.
Hope & Change and the end of Bushism.

Even allowing the second GWB term, his conduct ensured that a totally different person would get in. He was the Democrats best recruiting agent.

Agreed. McCain ran a close second though, don't you think? and Palin a very close third?
But lets not quibble about the running order. Your principal point is well made. IMHO
Cheers

Lest my above posts indicate otherwise, I like Obama as a person (well, from what you can deduce via television news and documentaries). He is certainly charismatic, and that is important.
Of course, the real proof is the eating, and only time will tell whether the man has substance and deliverability.
I have never been convinced that socialism would deliver prosperity, nor that totally free markets would ever spread wealth widely enough. In the current economic climate, Obama's (apparant) willingness to take broad professional guidance would seem to be a safer proposition than any extreme ideology.
Cheers

Dear All,
I am concerned, in todays Telegraph there was no mention whatsoever of Mr Obama.
So here in Aus he has been reduced to yesterdays news.
This concerns me as the Future of the world depends on his leadership and plans for the USA's future.
HHHMMMMMMMM
regards David

Mr Obama is going to stay in the news, I am sure.
I really hope that he proves a breath of fresh air, and that he can chart a successful way through the times we face, as you say, because it is so important for the whole world that he does ...

What is important is that the whole world pulls together and agrees a concerted set of measures. Unlike in past times when we entered recession, we are now a global economy and the only way to shorten or minimise the effect of this downturn is for those that lead the world to act together obviously Obama has a big part in that.
Fingers crossed!
Cheers

Dear Jim,
I do think that Mr. Obama may have the potential to bring a less confrontational style which may just allow the future to be better than it might have been.
He seems more of a diplomat and less of a war-monger than the last President, and so may well be in a position to bring genuine international co-operation.
As you say, "Fingers crossed."

HA. Waiting for "Change".
I seem to remember another Clinton once having something to do with politics.
