Kan II stand height
Posted by: Andreas Nystroem on 31 October 2002
Does anybody know how tall KanII stands are? They are so darn expensive I can't afford a pair at the moment. I'm just gonna have to improvise something, but I thought I should at least get it the right height.

Hi Andreas,
Yikes, I can imagine why!
The Kan-II stand are indeed a bit expensive, but it sure does make 'em sing like nothing else.
I had some (very) heavy sandfilled Target HR stands before the Kan-stands, but the Kan-II stands totally transformed the sound. (faster, more open mids, more detailed)
Project (well known for its affordable TT's) also has a Kan-like stand for 50% less the cost of the original Kan stands. (although the dimensions of the topplate are 15x15cm which is smaller than the 18x16cm of Kans) Also the Kan-II stands are more sturdy than the Project stands.
btw: Nice pic. I always found the Naim logo looking better/brighter on the old-style Nait2. (compared to the new-style Nait-2)

I need to mention that Sound Organisaton also used to make some very good stands for the Kan/Tukan (I had a pair that I sold with my Tukans). They look much like the Kan stands, except for the fact that the front two tiers aren't vertical, but instead slope back as they go from the base to the top.
Cheers
Keith.
