Framing advice

Posted by: Michael Dale on 12 December 2009

Hi folks,

I am trying to find an art framer, preferably local to me in West Yorkshire, who can supply this type of modern box frame. I have a number of prints that I have gathered over the years and it's time I got them framed. I have googled and been to a number of local framers and they all seem to have an endless supply of cheesy O.A P style kitschy frames.

I need to get the perspex/glass away from the prints, just like this Warhol.

Any advice or knowledge gratefully received!

Best wishes,

Mickey

A guy we use has loads of different styles and sizes of wood ali plastic etc. He has most of the popular stuff around the walls made up to show.
He is a private self employed chap, so not tied to a supplier, this is type you need to find.
He ain't quick though 2-3 weeks usually.
Also a long way for you to travel!

Thanks a lot for the advice. I finally found someone about 12 miles away who do conservation/museum style framing. They'd do my 10 Soups for £1,000 which I think is good value. It sounds a lot but with proper UV perspex and all the right hanging kit included, it's decent.

Best wishes,

valuable prints are worth getting framed right.
