Help fixing Linn Saras

Posted by: ejl on 12 January 2002

Hello,

I know this isn't a Linn forum, but someone here can probably help me to find a place that will service Saras. I need to replace the rubber surround for one of the bass units. Mine has a tear.

The U.S. branch of Linn won't help; I tried to get them to service these speakers both through a Linn dealer and then directly through Linn's Florida office. I was told by both places that Linn no longer supports Saras and that I should get them repaired locally. A local repair shop, unsurprisingly, cannot find the rubber surround.

It's a pity Linn doesn't support their older gear like Naim does.

So does anyone know a repair shop that might help, either in the U.S. or the U.K.?

Thanks!
Eric

The SARA uses KEF B200 drivers. You could try contacting KEF to see if they can do the repair work or recomend somebody. If this fails you could also try Wilmslow Audio at http://www.wilmslow-audio.co.uk They carry a huge range of parts, they may have something or can recomend alternates.

A question for you, is this rip due to age / accident ? Reason I'm curious is that it may be worth it too check the internal woofer and maybe the other speakers pair as well. If you have to do any repairs or preventative mainentance it would make sense to do it all at one time, especially if the parts/service is getting hard to find.

Hope this helps, good luck

You could try the Canadian distributor Aldburn Electronics. They are in Vancouver. Give John there a call on (604) 986-5357. Good luck.
