Surprised how much I am enjoying this, as I really went off The Cocteau Twins, but perhaps the Harold Budd is what holds it together for me now.

Sorry, should have said that. 'The Moon and the Melodies' by Harold Budd, Simon Raymonde, Robin Gutherie, Elizabeth Frazer (1986).

The credits as individual artists underlie that this is something a little different from a Cocteau Twins album with Harold Budd guesting on it. It sounds as much like Harold Budd's music as it does that of the Cocteau's.

I saw Harold Budd perform a couple of tracks from this at the Shaw Theatre, on the night of the Kings Cross fire, just a few hundred yards Kings Cross station. Eerie.

Here is a link to the Wikipedia entry, which sums up the album very well.

What are your thoughts on the Chesky?

More ambient music, and despite having one of the worst album covers I own, the music is lovely.

Not surprising with Eno, the recording is spectacularly clear, probably even better recorded than a Steve Wilson production.

Got to get that on vinyl just for the cover.
Brilliant.

I even bought it on CD mainly for the cover. Smile

Love it, it's an LP that has seen me through virtually every upgrade to my system (from nait 1) and my LP12. I can't believe that 2 powerlines on my amplification let me hear so much more!
