Sylvian/Sakamoto - Forbidden Colours (Japanese Import)
Ive still not heard that album.
Is it worth a punt?
There is a 3 track, 3 inch CD release of this, which has the original 'Forbidden Colours', 'Bamboo Houses' and 'Bamboo Music'. Very good, very close in style to 'Tin Drum'.

Munch,
It is just a 4-track EP basically. I suppose an extension of what he was doing "Tin Drum" era. Tracks:
1. Forbidden Colours
2. Bamboo Houses
3. Bamboo Music
4. Forbidden Colours - Version II
Great songs (IMO) and excellent sound quality/production. A bit pricey, but worth it for me as Forbidden Colours is one of my favourites. From the "Merry Christmas Mr Lawrence" soundtrack as well, IIRC??

Have you got your LP12 up and running?
Munch
Yes sort of, but very short of lp's... and money to buy them...
Some of the lp's i have purchased (pre-owned) are of very bad quality! : (
But my LP12 does sound very good if the vinyl is okay ; )
Must dash off to work now, bye!

Call me an ignoramus if you will, but publishing album covers without the name of the artist or album strikes me as either:
a. An assumption of a high level of knowledge of non-mainstream music by the readership,
b. A lack of thought, or
c. An attempt to be a show-off...
* delete as appropriate
It's pretty difficult to check out an album/artist if you don't know who they are...
Cheers

Los Campesinos - Ways to make it through the Wall is npr music's song of the day
Rather fun and lively and i'm sure I saw them at the Greenman Festival and they were indeed good fun.

......and now npr's song of the day which is Tori Amos - Winter which is rather gorgeous.
Live from the Montreaux Jazz festival in 1991. Probably very predictable but very Kate Bushish. No less powerful for that. Album now available 'Live at Montreux 1991 & 1992'

Just got four albums on the doorstep as I came home. One is for the cover, see the vinyl purchases thread.
Listening to this now, and really enjoying it. I have worked much of the year with a compilation by this band done by my junior playing, but the albums has some lovely stuff she missed off that.
This was a huge disappointment, as Amazon sent the awful 'Island Masters' edition, which fades out some of the tracks, and generally destroys what was a great album.
Not sure about this one on first listening, was expecting some driving power jazz funk, but it sounded quite disjointed on first hearing. I am sure that like many albums from the period it will take a few listenings to get to know it.
