Nigel,

This is one of my favourite ECM albums. It was along with Jan Garbarek I took up the Runes the first ECM album I bought - the beginning of my journey through the superb ECM catalogue. I love the second track Processional.

I am now playing it as well on the train home.

Some of the most profound lyrical content in these songs

While climbing up Mt. Everest to get away from all the noise
I slipped on a banana peel and almost got destroyed
And I was worried all the way down to the ground
When it comes to holding safety nets
Nobody seems to be around

Lontano,

I picked up a copy of that Marc Johnson album on vinyl in 1999 for about £2. You're the first person I've ever known who's ever heard of it.*

The New Mix In One Go by Yello on vinyl LP.

Stupendous stuff (on Side 4, "Koladi-Ola", right now) - and the Anton Corbijn picture of Dieter and Boris in Havana is probably the coolest pop star portrait ever taken!

This is good

WOW!!!!!

It was a bit of an indulgence as I already have the album on CD, but I was tempted by a limited edition vinyl version of one of my favourite albums of 2008, Laura Marling's "Alas I Cannot Swim" (together with a DVD of some live stuff).

I would concede I don't have the best CD player in the world, but I would say until you've heard this album on vinyl you haven't heard it properly yet ; it's stunning, far better than my CD copy and possibly one of the cleanest pressings I've ever bought!

Tool 'Lateralus'. Music doesn't get much better than this for me.
