Must add the 'Grace' Jeff Buckley is worth persevering with, I love the album, with the exception of Hallelujah, which I have to skip, it just goes on and on.

Decided I better buy this in case the special edition ran out.

Rather a victim to what went after it, but it is a stunning debut and up there with Joy Division at the time for originality and sonics.

The 2nd cd soaks up most of the singles and b-sides from the time and the re-mastering is good (at least it's not bad!)

The album that could have stopped U2 in their tracks (and I know there are many who wish this were the case). - me I'm having a good dose of nostalgia and am quite surprised the way this album holds up today.

Loving this tonight!

Nigel

Nigel,

This is one of my favourite ECM albums. It was along with Jan Garbarek I took up the Runes the first ECM album I bought - the beginning of my journey through the superb ECM catalogue. I love the second track Processional.

I am now playing it as well on the train home.

It's new to me Adrian - I bought the "Touchstones" edition a few weeks ago - but I like it a lot.

I think my first encounter with ECM was "Music for 18 Musicians", but Garbarek's "I Took up the Runes" came early on for me too. I saw the band perform that album live at Manchester RNCM, where they earned a tanding ovation.

Regards
Nigel

Never heard that album Jamie.
FREAKY cover.

Jamie - couldn't agree more! Superb stuff. At first I struggled with it but then suddenly it hit me. Now there isn't a day that goes by without listening to something by Tool.

Munch - You are missing out. Try Lateralus or 10,000 Days first.
