The Juana Molina is very good. I now fancy some more Stina Nordenstam and her classic album And She Closed Her Eyes

Hi Haim - how does Hewitt fare with Ravel? I really like her Bach, and would be tempted to buy this.
Thanks
Nigel
Nigel,
Aside from Bach, I think that Hewitt does very well with the French as well, especially Ravel and Rameau. I enjoy both of them a lot. Rameau is a single disc while Ravel is a double.
Regards,
Haim

This record I picked up is just a hoot!
Audio Fidelity, apparently, is the one who introduced the first stereophonic record and the blurbs on the jacket shows nothing much realy changed in 50 years amongst audiophiles.
Some of the text is unintentionally funny:
"The utlimate judge of our success is you, the listner. Audio Fidelity will welcome your comments. And if oyu have any suggestions as to the music and sounds you would ilke to hear on future Audio Fidelity records, they will be received with apprecaition indeed. "
They have released barking dogs and running train stereo records later on. :x
Also, some interesting bits:
" While the tontal frequency range of 16 cps to 25,000 cps on this records may not be within the range of ordinary human hearing, nevertheless, inspection of the grooves with a microscope will show the etchings of the upper dynamic frequencies. It is the opinion of the manufacturer that if these frequencies were omitted from this record a certain warmth of tone that is felt and sensed rather than heard would be lost..."
This explains why most CDs sound dire.
This record contains great cheezy classics such as Harlem Nocturne and Mambo Inn. It is a Lounge Lizard's delight!
Besides when you have a great SUPER-STEREOPHONIC SOUND, who cares what the music sounds like anyways.

Nigel and Haim,
Really like these discs - views are mixed on the Bach I guess those are contriversial. One party trick at my house is to see who is the first to guess if Angela is playing a Steinway or Fazioli - the record is after one note.
The great news in US is that all her hyperion discs are avalable at your music dot com for $6.99 each so loading up is affordable. What a debt we owe Ted Perry,
bless 'is soul.
Interested to hear the LVB Sonatas with Daniel Mulle Schott that was released recently.
