EST Live in Hamburg. Really making me regret never having seen them in the flesh, but at least the music lives on.

This is probably the only MOFI reissue that I like.
They've done an excellent job on this one.

GHATAM - The Antenna Repairmen
A unique percussion record. The trio uses handmade ceramic percussion instruments designed by sculptor Stephen Freedman. A Ghatam is a clay water jug used as a hand drum in South Indian music.

Matt - great cover that.
Chas n Dave are in the tradition of The Kinks and Small Faces and appeared at the same time as Ian Dury and Squeeze and wrote and recorded songs about life in London with affection for the great Music Hall artists. Pianist Chas Hodges and guitarist Dave Peacock were around the rock scene of the 60s and early 70s before teaming up with drummer Mick Burt to form the group. Chas worked with Joe Meek, backed Jerry Lee Lewis, played with Mike Berry and the Outlaws along with Ritchie Blackmore, Cliff Bennett and the Rebel Rousers with Burt on drums before he joined Albert Lee’s Heads Hands and Feet. Dave started in a group called the Rolling Stones in 1960 and progressed to The Tumbleweeds, Mick Greenwood, Jerry Donaghue and Black Claw.
Their debut album One Fing ‘n’ Anuvver (75) earned acclaim from John Peel. It had titles like Ponders End Allotments Club giving a strong North London angle to the genre. The cockney vocals and humour blended with Rock’n’Roll, led them to title their 78 album Rockney (later it was their label name) and featured top quality song-writing. Two years later an advertising exec spotted them at a pub gig playing their composition Gertcha; he signed them up to make ads for Courage beer. Gertcha was their first entry on the hit parade. They followed up with The Sideboard Song (Got my Beer in The Sideboard Here) from Don't Give A Monkey's, Rabbit and the ballad Ain’t No Pleasing You - one of the best songs ever written. In between they recorded Live At Abbey Road converting Studio One into a London pub for the sessions.
More popular recordings came with Margate and London Girls and the successful, if mediocre Snooker Loopy and football songs for Spurs. They released Christmas collections of musical hall songs and contributed theme tunes for TV shows: Crackerjack and the superb comedy satire In Sickness & In Health. Eamonn Andrews presented them with the Red Book on This Is Your Life in 1985.

Nic - there is also a live DVD worth checking out. I was lucky to see them 3 times and each time it was an amazing experience. We took friends who did not know them and they always came away enthralled. For me, one of the saddest bits of news in 2008.

Also some video clips here worth watching
