I have been looking at this album in the local store but not yet bought. I take it then that I should have done.

...on SHM-CD. Lyrics are pretentious twaddle of course but a great recording and excellent music.
'pretentious twaddle' is a very good description of Jon Anderson's lyrics, but I do think they create a lovely atmosphere alongside the music.
He said that he used words that he 'liked the sound of', and that many of the images are a bit twee, but it does create something that is unique about Yes.
I always found it a double standard when Liz Frazer did the same in the Cocteau Twins, and people raved about how clever it was. It was just as much twaddle, and just as twee, but fitted their music just as well as Anderson did Yes.
I love Peter Hammill, Joni Mitchell, and some other great wordsmiths, but there is plenty of space in music for a little whimsey too. (Never got into Bob Dylan's voice, but do appreciate his lyrics.)

Got this a couple of months back when Markah recommended it to me at the PT gig. Now giving it a first proper spin and it is pretty good.

You got in and out of Brighton ok then?![]()
One of the big advantages of the "credit crunch" is that it is now easy to drive in and out of Brighton. Car parks have plenty of spaces. Most expensive shops in the Lanes such as Jewellers were absolutely empty. Zavvi was packed with people trying to fleece it. I went to a few of the small independent music retailers to give them my business such as Resident and Borderline - very good music stores.

Blues for the Fisherman seems stuck to the platter, but the currently playing LP of John Williams and Itzhak Perlman has managed to keep it off for a few spins.

How To Murder Your Wife (OST) by the recently deceased Neal Hefti. A marvellous easy, light score which seems effortless but probably took a great deal of skill.
From the 2008 release - and quickly sold-out: The MGM Soundtrack Treasury (one of 20 scores) released by FSM. See: http://www.filmscoremonthly.com/notes/box03_intro.html
The sound on this score is far from perfect, though, which is most unusual for the normally 100% perfect FSM; I can only presume it is a fault with the source tapes.
