Listened into it, and had to order subito... As well as the "other" Joel Grare CD on alpha. Good thing to start the new year with, I think...

Thanks, Nigel for not just a few musical inspirations, here !

Now that looks very interesting. I have some very good albums on the Pirouet label. Is this worth getting. I just played the title track from his Myspace page and like it a lot.

No need to hesitate Adrian, it's an excellent piano trio CD, which hovers close to my top ten of 2008 (speaking of which, Stefan has just posted his list on the other thread).

Regards
Nigel

Happy to help Stefan (and Adrian). Smile I can't remember if either of you have this, but here's another nice CD from the Pirouet label:

It features the unusual combination of piano and marimba/vibes.

Meanwhile, I'm going to look out for that Helge Lien CD early in 2009.

Happy New Year!

Nigel - I do not have this one. On Pirouet I have several Marc Copland CD's and another by Tim Hagans that come to mind. Looks like another label producing some good jazz.

I am playing the Fennesz again. I love the ambient atmosphere.

Played earlier in the car - as recommended by Huw and it sounds promising.

I love it! Very derivative, but still very much its own thing.

Yes I think it will get plenty of airplay Huw - thanks.

Now, getting ready to play the first of four CD's from Wolfgang Voigt's GAS project. Remastered albums from mid 90's through to early 2000's. Ambient music.

The sunny day goes without saying. Roll Eyes Been bloody freezing here and I am partying in an musically "ambient" way on my own staying well away from the family who are all horribly ill. I don't want to catch it.

You are up early. No hangover then Cool

Kept it pretty civilized. Family is still sleeping and it looks like Classic all through the morning for me. Helps me ease into the New Year.

Wish you and the family all the best, hope they're up and running soon.

Cheers ... Oliver

Freezing where I am. I'm thinking of putting the bubbly back into the wine cellar and brewing up some hot chocolate... Big Grin

On two magical nights-- June 22, 2005 and September 12, 2006-- punk godmother Patti Smith and My Bloody Valentine genius Kevin Shields took the stage together at London's Queen Elizabeth Hall. Their collaboration was called the Coral Sea, and took both its name and inspiration from Smith's 1996 book The Coral Sea. The book and the performance served as tributes to the legendary late artist Robert Mapplethorpe, who was Smith's close friend. (He took the iconic photograph that appears on the cover of Smith's 1975 debut album Horses.)
