Steely Dan - Aja. This is all I have by SD - any other recommendations? I have seen "Gaucho" posted a few times.

Sun Kil Moon (Mark Kozelek) 'Tiny Cities' acoustic album of Modest Mouse covers, and Mark Kozelek 'Rock 'n' Roll Singer' album of AC/DC covers and odd songs that did not make 'Old Ramon', mostly acoustic.

and now Mark Kozelek 'White Christmas Live' which includes one of my favourite lines, or asides to a heckle 'I'll play White Christmas if I f***ing want to'.

They are all good but Gaucho is MY favourite. I just love the more laid back approach to the album, the simplicity and style. You cannot go wrong with any of their albums from Can't Buy a Thrill through to Gaucho. They are not expensive to buy so get them all!!

Thanks Adrian. Knowing me that's probably what I'll do now!

I would agree with that Mark - i.e that they are all good.

Thanks again Richard. Hope you are keeping well. I will get them ordered then - most albums seem to be going for less than a fiver on Amazon.

Gaucho would be a good next step - but Royal Scam, Katy Lied or Pretzel Logic are no slouches either.

Mark - I was just going to recommend you get the SACD version of Gaucho as the CD layer on that sounds superb. Seems though it ain't cheap, going for £74 on Amazon Eek I bought it last year for £10. Worth a look around. One of my better investments last year - credit crunch proof!!

On vinyl:-

Good album, sounds pretty good too especially as mine isn't the flattest LP I've ever seen.

Hi Oliver
Thanks for your reply. I found one on amazon.com for 25 dollars, shipping included, thats great. Are you also looking forward to the new Hoffman mastered CDs on Audio Fidelity?
regards
urs

Hi Miles
You must have the biggest DCC, MFSL...collection
Eric Burdon and War is one of my all time favourites, but cant find it for a affordable price. If you have a tip where to find it, I would sure appreciate it.
thanks
urs

Urs,

I try to avoid buying used CDs on e-bay or amazon, I get most of mine from folks I know on muisc forums. This one I got for $20. If you look on amazon you will find copies in the range of $20-95. You should be able to get it for around $25 which for an OOP gold CD is pretty darn good. I'm surprised they are so relatively cheap as the sound quality is just amazing. I found the same to be true for the Audio Fidelity gold discs I posted earlier. You can get them new and sealed for $20, they are mastered by Steve Hoffman and every bit as good as the original DCC gold CD series.

Take for example the DP 'Who do we think we are' on AF at $20 compared to the DP 'Made in Japan' on DCC which trades on amazon for a mind blowing $398.

Cheers ... Oliver

Arc (Michael Shreeve & Ian Boddy) 'Arcturus'
Mike I remember that this was on your 'to buy' list, it really is one of the best old school electro albums I have heard. Quite different from Redshift, and not pure Tangerine Dream retro like Free System Project are at the moment (although that is no bad thing in my book).
