A disc that reminds me just how beautiful the human voice can be and the satisfaction that Lieder can give...

Looks very promising - I will have a look for it. Smile

The men in the house have retired for the night and are going to sleep with music on the competing bedroom systems.

My 8 year old is going to sleep to the sounds of Motown

My 9 year old is going to sleep to the sounds of Take That

I am snuggling up with the lovely Susanna - Flower of Evil

Lontano, I've heard that Take That album. There's a track on it I really like (!) called 'Julie', I think.

I hear snippets when I go and say goodnight to my eldest. I have not listened to the album. Won't be long though until we are out driving and I am getting ready for the journey with a good music selection and I get asked to put the Take That on...

Emily Barker & Red Clay Halo, again

anyone who likes the Waifs should find this worth a punt

Lontano, Julie is kinda like Hey Jude, only better (obviously). Goes like this:

"You used to sing sha la la la la la I want you, sing, sha la la la la la I do."

Drive safely.

What do you think of the sound quality on this? I find it quite soft and uninvolving compared to Trailer Park and Central Reservation. I did catch her live a few years ago in Sydney. Very good indeed.

This is my first Beth CD so I don't have anything to compare to. Sounded good on first listen through. Which one should I try next?

I just put this one on-- it's excellent-- but the only Beth Orton album I have, so can't say how it compares...

I got both Trailer Park and Central Reservation on release. For me, Trailer Park is really good, but Central Reservation is a bit bland by comparison, and must have put me off Beth, as I haven't bought any of her stuff since. I think most of the reviews at the time agreed with me, though the singles are excellent.

My favourite Beth song is the comedown classic, Alive Alone, from this album released the year before Trailer Park...

(This album is nothing like Beth of course. Just put it on.)

Trailer Park, but I like Central Reservation equally. One of the discs I have has some bonus tracks on it including "Best Bit" (which is all about Lavry DACs!). No seriously, it is a great track and available on an EP if you don't get it as a bonus track.

Trailer Park is a must have IMHO, Central Reservation is pretty good as well.

It's been giving me goosebumps (though the heating has just gone off!)

Last one for tonight, my favourite Miles...

I finally made more of an effort with jazz in 2008, partly thanks to your good self. Much appreciated.

Not the best sound in the world (recorded in 1984) but magnificent playing of a young Martha Argerich.
Highly recommended.
