The extract on the web link you have provided sounds like the sort of music one could get really drawn into - wonderful combination of different cultural influcences.

Broooooooooooooooooooooose
Is it just me or does the first track, Outlaw Pete, carry a rather familiar Blondie tune/rhythm to it? Or is it Patti Smith? Pat Benatar?
Call Me. Blondie. Deffo.
I'm singing along to Bruce with Blondie lyrics
Colour me your colour, baby
Colour me your car
Colour me your colour, darling
I know who you are ...
Genius.

What do you think Chief? I really like it, but it's with Portishead that for me she is and they are at their best.

KK, I love it.
I had to listen to something during the ten year gap between Portishead albums, and I've always played it loads. For me, it's also easier to get into than their last couple of albums, great though they are.
From the spooky opening minute to the last, I love the incredibly atmospheric feel to it. Sand River is one of my favourite songs on any album, and Drake (inspired by Nick of course) is another beautiful song.
10/10. If anyone who likes Portishead hasn't heard it, buy it tomorrow (!)

Glad someone else is playing this. As it is Bruce, this will be my soundtrack to the year 2009. Magic was my soundtrack to 2007/08 and my favourite album of the noughties.
Bought two copies today of Working on a Dream, one to be permanently left in the car.
On my sixth listen of the day (first one on the Naim) and I am very happy with this new arrival. Some super tracks - the guy can do no wrong in my books.
I just watched the DVD that came with it as well - all very nice - the last track on the DVD is a real choker - got me and the missus.
Now dancing round the lounge. Good stuff Bruce.
PS - I think the production is a lot better than Magic.

Yeah I don't get all the brickbats he's received over this one
I like much of the more recent, older Bruce, compared to much of the younger Bruce (heresy to some I know). And I like this album.

All the reviews I have read so far have been 4 star (think I read about 5 of those). But tonight's London Lite (free paper) gave it 2 stars - what do they know.
I have been a Bruce fan for years and of course the classics, are well, classic. But he has a new lease of life now, knocking on 60 this year and no sign of letting up in anyway. To think he will be filling all the European stadiums again this summer after last summer's outing (tour currently being announced - see www.backstreets.com) just goes to show how much he is enjoying it all. And there is no-one, and I mean no-one that comes close to creating that live feel and excitement that Bruce does. Plus Obama made him Secretary of State for house rockin', pants droppin', earth shockin', hard rockin', booty shakin', love makin', heart breakin', soul cryin' and damm fine rock music

Been listening to this gem of an album from Cisco Music tonight.
Electrifying performance and stunning recording quality.
I see that Cisco Music's web site is closed. And Elusive Disc listed this CD out of print and in limited supply.
I hope they are still in business!![]()
An excellent recording, I have four of five in this Cisco Gold series.
