Enjoy your evening, Stu, next time you see Steve tell him I send my regards.

I will have to get this one.

Title should be open in a few hours - a nice little trip to Surry Hills to pick it and a few other ECM's up (new Keith Jarret Trio as well)........used to love doing that at the weekend.

Based on what I know you like... you should consider having it. Don't wait for the Gold Disc release ! Smile

cheers

Maybe it's about time ECM gets the special collectors series out. 10 selected titles, limited edition in Gold - even Adrian would finally buy some Gold. Big Grin

I have Ian over today and later the Sydney Audio Club, but maybe I can do an extended lunch break next week - haven't been there in a while.

Whatever they release them on, I don't think they could sound any better than they already do. No other label beats the sound quality of ECM.

Send him my best regards. You should show him the hi-fi tweaks you sent earlier - he might like to buy a few to go with the chopsticks he used to use to suspend his speakers cables Big Grin

True.

One of the few albums that make me wish I had a better hifi system. Karen's voice has levels of emotion which most hifi's can reproduce but few can convey.

And another one for tomorrow but on vinyl

Before I get tempted to have a third round on that magnificent (Smile) Rava/Bollani/Motian disc, I will have to try my second purchase for today. Which is:

Oops, didn't notice your question about teh KJ CD, earlier.

Yes, I have it for a few days, now, and it is the usual standard. From my view, not something to get crazy about, but that's true for most of their trio "statndards" CD's (maybe with the exception of that blue one, recorded in South France. Forgot the name. THAT one is special...)

Cannot wait to get it. Good to hear that news Stefan. Love the cover as well. It has also been released on vinyl, the first new vinyl released on ECM in 15 years. Did you get the new Jarrett album as well?

Where is the best place to get it from?
Stu

Good on you Stu - check it out first to make sure it would be your cup of tea.

Not cheap though. £33 on amazon. 37 quid from hmv Eek 30 euros from the ecmrecords.com website. not really searched for it yet but i will probably buy from resident records shop in brighton as i like to make certain i get a perfect cover with no knocks.

Ah, Haim. One of my favorite discs. In the car, on the iPod, on the grammophone, in the hotel elevator. Great music that fits everywhere (in my books)

cheers

How much time do you spend listening to music in hotel elevators?

Absolutely that one, Adrian. How I love that development from a concert that starts with three old, sick, bored and boring musicians and ends with inspired music crafting !

cheers
Stefan

Far too much, lately...

Especially, if they get stuck (like yesterday in Wolfsburg. Grrrr.)

there is also this method we used when we were children: a sharpened match, sliced, "driving" a sheet of paper, and then carefully follow the spirals, and listen carefully.

Not stereo, though...
