Julie Driscoll/Brian Auger & The Trinity - Jools.
This is a double CD of Open & Definitely What! remastered with extra tracks.
Would be of interest to James Taylor Quartet & Corduroy fans.

How's that, Adrian ? Saw Hassell, last year in Frankfurt, and was moved by the intensity of his playing (you hardly hear him, unfortunately) I have his records, since long, but always keep a rest of doubt whether he's a genius or a sharlatan. What's your take ?
cheers

Are you saying, it wasn't the Köln concert that introduced you to KJ's work ? You're a rare species, then...

Stefan - it is a good mood album. Electronics, atmospherics with trumpet. More atmospherics than harmonics but I like it a lot. As soon as Janes friends leave here tonight I am going to play it on the headphones in the dark. Now I think that will be a good experience.
As for whether he is a genius or charlatan, well neither to me. I have a few of his albums but I have never considered him to be a music god as others on other web forum I frequent seem to think he is. He has been quite influential and pioneering so that has given him a bit of a legendary status but he has never been one of my favourite musicians mainly as I came to his music quite late.
Good album though and worth checking out.

Now you've got me thinking there. Tribute was defintely the first Trio album of his I bought and I do think the Koln Concert came after for me but not 100% certain. The old memory is playing up a bit there....

This album is rare beast, both a bootleg and an official cd release?
1. Dance Me To The End Of Love
2. The Future
3. Ain't No Cure For Love
4. Bird On The Wire
5. Everybody Knows
6. Anthem
7. First We Take Manhattan
8. Avalanche - solo
9. Chelsea Hotel #2 - solo
10. Tower Of Song
11. Democracy
12. Waiting For The Miracle
Disc2
13. I'm Your Man
14. Joan Of Arc
15. Closing Time
16. Take This Waltz
17. Sisters Of Mercy
18. Hallelujah
19. I Tried To Leave You
20. So Long, Marianne2
For a huge Cohen fan like myself, it's a treasure to be explored and enjoyed especially when you consider the great sound quality.

After having sat on the shelf for quite a while as it did not make much of an initial impression on me, this has really grown on me. Getting lots of deserved airplay now.
