Diccus,

You finally gave into temptation, now don't go crazy on the weekend Winker I got so paranoid that I would damage my CD, I got a 2nd Roll Eyes How a band can produce such an outstanding debut and then breakup is a complete mystery to me. Still, at least Gavin moved forward with Clayhill, but there is some doubt about their continuation? It's a strange world this music business.

Solo album 'when we had faces' out in the summer apparently. What is his work with UNKLE like? You ever seen him?

Great songsmiths album highly recommended. Also with added whistling Smile In the vein of Fleet Foxes & Bon Iver but more to my taste though I don't know if thats a good thing of not.

RE: The Pirate's Gospel by Alela Diane (Adam doesn't like images to be quoted and I'm happy to oblige)

I prefer this album. There is the wonderfully redundant question of 'Is she creating these tunes/songs or recalling them from the past?' ( a bit like Dylan recalling vagabonds and hobos). In the end it doesn't matter (hence the redundancy) because the result is a raw, emotive soul journey...which happens to be the title of a Gillan Welch album who is not a million miles away sonically from this album! Funny how my mind and several music reviewers made that connection.

I think I was thrown off whilst listening to the 2nd album by the 'folk' label. Having heard this album I can understand why it was labelled folk but I think it potentially limits both albums.

regards,

Two Cents

Pretty much the same, here, Huw. Not sure if they haven't done "too much"
However, the "freshness" of their playing make it easier for me to follow the Kreutzer, as well. All the rest on that CD is pretty good, IMHO

Interesting... Grabbed this CD, today, because of the interestingness of the prpogram. Can't wait to put it on, later...

Stefan, everything but the Beethoven is good, but am not quite sure that the Kreutzer needs to be played quite so aggressively. Will be interested in your thoughts. I have Perlman and Ashkenazy burned in my brain and am finding it difficult to buy into this very different approach - she can play though!

Hi Mark

regarding Laura Veirs:

Yes, I have, in an intimate 600 seat theatre June 2007 here in Portland. It was with the Saltbreakers band promoting this album. We enjoyed it very much, her voice is sensational live, she is a very good guitar player and the whole presentation was very fun-loving and her enjoying performing.

I have lost track - is your show coming soon or has it occurred ?

Havn't heard anything with UNKLE yet and have not seen Gavin 'live'. I will look out for any solo/clayhill/unkle gig's and let you know.
