Thats a great one Jamie ! never seen that cover on it though

Usually bootleg covers are so awful that I make new ones. A few others I know do too, there is a Czech artist and photographer who makes the most amazing ones for Bowie shows. The Yes one is just a reworking of a Roger Dean ink drawing.

Yes very good - its on a silver disc. Really good guitar sound: sparse, but effective. Good singer too.

ROFT,

I've Got the Michael and Miranda LP and all the 45's (including the 12" versions) up to this point including the Needles and Pills EP.

After that "Big hit" I did not really keep up with their output despite having seen the Passions many times live, mainly because I was working abroad, so I have never actually heard this disc. The original guitarist (with the echoplex) was Clive Timperly. The lead singer you are thinking of with the great voice was Barbara Gogan.

Regards

Nic

Michael Stanley "Just Another Night"

this is the newest of twenty plus releases over the past 35 years. rock and roll from America's heartland: women, cars, late nights, workin' for the man, livin' on the north coast (ie. southern shores of Lake Erie in Cleveland). Michael is an excellent songwriter and an excellent vocalist and always works with top band personnel. if you lived in the midwest of US you more than likely listened to Michael, where as the east coast (and the world) was all Bruce Springsteen. More similarities than differences between the two rockers, Michael is my favorite artist bar none.

I would keep most of Monk and some of Coltrane for later. Another must have for me is Ben Webster - try to get your hands on 'Soulville' if you don't have it yet. It's in my top 5 most played Jazz records.

Will put him on this weeks purchase list.

Already bought a few Coltrane. Got a DCC copy of Lush Life for £22

Haven't heard much Vic. Just playing a sample songs from NPR's 'All songs considered' podcast which was about lesser known love songs. The Betty Davis song was also on, though probably more lust than love. I listen to the podcast weekly on my pod when i'm driving around. Really eclectic mix of new (mainly) and occasionally older music that has influenced the present. Bob Boilen is a great host.............. have a listen here
