Michael has said the question he is most often asked is "who is the lady on the Stage Pass cover" - he never met her. I believe that was the 3rd band album, with the original line-up and released around 1977 - very good in my opinion. The band expanded to six personnel over the next several years and stayed together till around 86-87.
Hope it is listenable for you, Howard.

On vinyl:

Sometimes Aaron's voice can be a little overdone, falsetto emerging from a bloke the size of a refrigerator, but here are some killer tracks here - feels like rain has a real swamp feel.

Earlier, to blow away the cobwebs

This morning, before physio, on CD another outstanding piano disc from Marc-André Hamelin

Since she's been mentioned, I've dug out a copy Of Joan Armatrading's The Key on vinyl.

Not sure the production is as sharp as Me, Myself, I though

It's by the japanese hip hop chap - DJ Krush. This is my favourite album of his "The Message at the Depth". But Meiso is excellent and usually available in a nicely presented vinyl pack.

Thanks for that. I have a couple of DJ Krush albums, Ki-Oku with Toshinori Kondo (trumpet) is a favourite of mine.

I will have a look out for 'The Message at the Depth'. It sounds a lot harder than his other material, judging by the Amazon reviews, but I like the comment about a 'techno head-f***' so it might well appeal to me. 'Meiso' too.

Hi Jamie,

I bought this and "Mer De Noms" mainly because of my liking of Maynard James Keenan/Tool. They are both good albums, but for me the drumming will never match Danny Carey.

Danny Carey and Josh Freeze are my two favourite drummers to come through since grunge came on the scene. 'Ticks and Leeches' and 'Parabola' are inspiring, but I do like Josh Freeze on the APC albums too, he really makes 'Judith' have a punch. APC are probably a lot more accessible for most people than Tool, for first listening, the songs structure is more traditional, and Maynard James Keenan's voice is a little sweeter (mostly) and more to the fore in the mix. Both are great bands

Huw,

You still have to get Hamelin's Medtner disc.
